Victory for Public Lands: Mike Lee’s Land Sale Bill Defeated

July 1, 2025 | Not One Acre

In a huge win for America’s public lands, Senator Mike Lee’s proposal to sell off millions of acres of Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service lands was stopped in its tracks. The bill, slipped into the Senate’s budget reconciliation package in June 2025, sparked outrage among hunters, hikers, anglers, and conservationists who saw it as a threat to our shared wild spaces.

Thanks to an incredible coalition—outdoor enthusiasts, conservation groups like The Wilderness Society and Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, and even bipartisan lawmakers—over a million voices flooded Senate offices with calls, emails, and petitions. Maps from The Wilderness Society showed just how much was at stake, from Utah’s desert trails to Montana’s fishing streams. By June 28, the provision was officially pulled, proving the power of people standing together.

At Not One Acre, we’re thrilled to celebrate this public lands victory. But the fight isn’t over. Join us to keep saying “Not One Acre” to losing our lands. Share this story, hit the trail, or sign up for updates to stay in the fight!
