Public Lands Update: April 2026 Current Events + Our Quarterly Donation to TRCP

Welcome to this week's public lands roundup. We’re keeping things straightforward with the latest developments, practical info for your next trip, and a quick note on how Not One Acre is giving back.

Current Public Lands Events – April 2026

  • H.R. 7979 – Public Lands Access Restoration Act
The House Subcommittee on Federal Lands continues to review this bill, which would make it easier to keep existing roads and trails open on BLM lands unless a clear safety or resource need is proven. Public comment remains open through mid-April.
  • Public Lands in Public Hands Act (H.R. 718)
The bill requiring congressional approval for large federal land sales or transfers is moving forward in committee. It aims to keep public lands accessible for recreation, hunting, and fishing.
  • BLM Project Updates
The Bureau of Land Management recently approved additional habitat restoration projects across several western states, focusing on wildlife corridors and trail improvements that benefit both visitors and local communities.
  • State-Level Access Wins
Oregon’s Senate Bill 1590, protecting public lands from unauthorized transfers, has passed the Senate and is now headed to the House. Similar access-focused discussions are active in Montana and Colorado this legislative session.

Our Quarterly Donation to TRCP

This quarter, Not One Acre proudly made a donation to the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP). Their work defending public access, habitat, and hunting/fishing opportunities on federal lands directly supports the values we stand for. Every purchase you make helps us continue these contributions.
